Things have not been going exactly how I planned for this blog. My intention was to write about 2 blog posts a month about ancient material and subjects related to the divine council worldview, and how these topics can enlighten our understanding of the culture of the Bible. And while this is still my intention for the future, I have changed gears slightly. And while I’ve found myself working on several things that keep my focus off of this blog, my hope is that by shifting gears, I can include some of what I’ve been working on here.
Recently, I have started to study Greek, which I believe will greatly help in my understanding of the ancient world and allow me to read some ancient material in its original language. While I do have a basic understanding of Hebrew, I do believe that Greek will be even more valuable in my studies. I have just started this process and plan to dedicate a lot of my study time to this.
I have also been studying Revelation through my life group. And while we are about half way through with the study, I can’t put my beliefs about Revelation into a blog post. I do believe that the systems that we have developed in the modern day are (at the very least) not the full picture. As with many of these systems, they all have some value, but nothing seems to get everything perfectly. I do believe that the main point in Revelation, like all prophet books in the Bible, is a call to repentance and to tell others about the gospel. Judgement is always a reality, whether because of our death or because Christ returns, and therefore we have limited time here. We are called to use that time wisely for the kingdom of God.
Outside of these studies, I do continue to read, mostly modern books, and I have a couple of book reviews that I hope to get posted in the near future. For now, my plan for this blog is to give personal updates on my studies and book reviews. The ancient material will come and will be included in my personal studies as well.
